Faber Acid Cleaner Review
Faber Acid Cleaner Review
The quality of the post-installation tile cleaning will determine the final look and feel of the surfaces as well as the ease of future washing tasks. The grout residue and dirt that is a common feature after installation jobs create unsightly streaks on the surface. This residue needs to be got rid of as a priority, to prevent it from permanently adhering to the surface. It’s not an easy feat, given the tough nature of the treatments that are used. After all, the grouting is needed to last for long, so it contains hard-wearing agents. This is all fine and dandy when the gout is in the right spot – in the joints between the tiles. However, when the grout residue is all over the rest of the surfaces, it defies the conventional cleaning agents, and requires something more powerful to clear it from the area. That’s where the Faber Acid Cleaner comes in.

Time is of the essence. The excess grouting material needs to be removed as well as the residue before they dry and make the floor even dirtier. Getting to this material during the grouting process is key – as long as you don’t damage the grout that has yet to cure. At the end of the process when the grout has finally dried and cured, tougher cleaning is required. This calls for the Faber Acid Cleaner, which comes in to clear the grouting material, paint, glue and other dirt that is on the surface.

- Dilute the Faber Acid Cleaner in water, using a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio, depending on the amount of residue that needs to be got rid of.
- Apply the solution to the surface, rubbing it in. Different tools can be used depending on the particular situation – from cloths and mops to single disc machines.
- Allow 5-10 minutes of dwelling time. This gives the Faber Acid Cleaner time to act chemically on the residue. During this period, you can still continue wiping the surface with the solution.
- Clear away the residue then rinse the surface with water.
- In case there is some residue that has remained, you can repeat the process – this time making the solution slightly more concentrated.
The area can be opened up to floor traffic after it dries. In addition, the tools that have been used can be cleaned with water.
